I recently heard about a type of chemical that can be applied to soil that will greatly increase it's ability to absorb and retain moisture. Old news?

Since we're in a drought I'm considering using one of these products as soon as the excavation ends and before I plant grass. I don't know about the cost yet.

Looks like "surfactant" is the keyword.

One gallon of Aquamaxx treats 40,000 sf if I did the math right (3 oz in 1 gal water treats 1000 sf). It lasts up to 30 days. I'm having trouble finding a price which is a bad sign.
