http://www.aquafeed.com/article_list_fn.php?sectionid=6&typeid=3Cody Note: there are numerous local brands of fish food many of them formulated for catfish and general pond fish feeding. It is a good idea to buy not just the cheapest brand but pay attention to protein content. Opinions vary as to what protein content is best for your fish. General consensus seems to be 32% protein is okay for BG, tilapia, and catfish and for predatory fish the higher protein foods of 40%-45% produce the best results with less fish manure. IMO it depends on ones goals for the fishery. I think that since the diet of many panfish consists of invertebrates, bugs, crustaceans, insects and occasionally small fish, who are animal types of protein based foods, the higher protein foods are often very beneficial and the best way for quickly producing trophy class panfish. Lots of discussion about these topics are in the variety of links below.
