I hear you, Dean. Got bushy pondweed which does much the same. There are only a few solutions, some temporary.

First, kill it with herbicide. Second, stock grass carp (I assume they will eat it). Third, use dye to starve it of sunlight.

I used herbicide a few months ago, and have permission to stock grass carp.

There are folks who make a kind of pond blanket that blocks sunlight in a particular area. I got a couple, but never used them because herbicide took care of the problem. It won't solve the issue for the whole pond, but supposed to do well in opening up areas for fishing.
