Thanks Shorty, that info is very helpful. SO it seems that your walleye grew a few inches in the past 6-7 months, but now they should really have plenty to eat. I wonder why such a huge success for the shiners? High water? Cold spring?
I too have GSH that are approaching 6-8" long. THey were stocked now I think 5 summers ago and I don't see many young just the old generation as there are no predators who can eat the largest GSH. I have had very successful spotfin shiner reproduction and there are tons of the tiny SFS in the shallows. I have to make a trip up north and may swing by the fish store and get a few pails of FHM. FHM could never survive in my pond more than a few weeks, but now with hundreds of other minnows everywhere they might just be able to blend in long enough to pull off a spawn or two this summer yet.
