All the males I saw shallow were of medium size. Guessing 6-7" and the one female I saw actually spawning was smaller.

It made me wonder if some larger males were adjacent to them out in slightly deeper water that I could not see. The age of the pond I should have some 8+" redear in there, but have not caught nor seen one yet.

Did catch a 9+" RES/GSF hybrid the other day though. I have most of the hybrids cleaned out but still catch one once in a while. Good news is of all the fingerling RES I have sampled all looked pure RES. So maybe the hybrids did not get off a spawn. Have never caught anything but big hybrids. Never what appeared to be from a spawn.

Hopefully the single CNBG male I put in there earlier is on a nest somewhere and will give me some CNBG/RES hybrids. I wanted to get the GSF influence out of the pond but I would like to have the small mouth CNBG/RES hybrids. A few at least. Don't want them to become the dominant sunfish.
