That is a tough little kid. I lipped a bass like that the other day, it flipped and it shredded my thumb with its teeth!
I'm a weenie. I wear a glove most of the time.
After a successful bass trip, my left thumb tends to get shredded & eventually begins to peel. Tried gloves, but didn't help much. What did was to wash thoroughly, then treat area with a topical antibiotic like neosporin. Skin heals quickly, no peeling.
