Mark, do they have any ear tags? Sale barns and most cattle guys around here will use one color tag.
We had 5 beautiful Red Angus calves on our place week before last. I shut the gate to keep them in, and stated making phone calls. Ultimately it took about 30-45 minutes to get the owner notified, and he rode off with his calves trailing without even a thanks to the several of us that helped find him. Next time, his cows will be on the road, and he can worry about it. His cows have green tags, so I know who they belong to now.
