My understanding, right or wrong....the papershells spawn late summer and the females carry the eggs under their tails (looks like a raspberry) until the following spring when they will hatch. So you currently only have a maximum of the original 75 stocked last fall. I think it would be very lucky to catch one now, even if they are active. If they survive/thrive, you might have a big enough population to trap some late summer.
