dr3131, as you've got an attorney involved, make sure that your attorney does not have any friendly relationships or conflicts of interest with the county solicitor.
Your lawyer may have to get ugly with their solicitor, and he/she can't be afraid or unwilling to do that for fear of harming a relationship.
We got burned with a somewhat similar situation years ago, and things never got resolved the way they should have.
