+1 To add to what Esshup stated, my experience is that gradual slope and water level change inherent with a water table pond can work to your advantage. When spring spawn time comes around and the spring rains raise the level, that vegetation on those gently sloping banks gets submerged. Prime habitat for plankton and new spawn.
