There is no way the pond will get drained or the dam permanently fixed for at least 5 years, possibly longer. I would wager it'll be 5 to 7 before they get a chance to do anything major to it. He has 2 more years in the Downer's Grove FD and then they need to build a house and all the other stuff needed to get moved. Cash for a major pond overhaul is totally out of the question.

As nice as it would be to fix it now, it's jut not in the cards.

One end of the pond runs up a run off channel that appears to stay pretty full most of the time but is choked with vegitation. The plan is to release the minnows there and fish any time they are down here to 1 - see what we are catching and 2 - to pull a few fish out of there for dinner. Even if the minnows only last a few days it'll be fun and cheap just to see what happens.
