mark my suggestion for the first step is to invest in pond boss books - there are several that are "bibles" to follow that will help you get your pond in shape from all angles - i defer on the windmill question to the pros - basic pond management book, raising trophy bass, etc are excellent guides to pond management along with posting questions on this site. Finally, at least at the onset, I suggest paying to have a good biologist come out and do a survey on your pond to give you a gameplan and show you where you are. Money well spent.
