I ran across a very useful chapter in Fisheries Techniques from American Fisheries Society, BR Murphy & DW Willis eds. (our David Willis I suspect) Chapter 15 is Length, Weight and Associated Structural Indices by Anderson & Neumann.

This chapter has some fairly broad data (normalized for various datasets) for fish size and weight. Many later authors cite this as the definitive standard weight reference. The standard weight charts we have in our archive are for PA fish, and are a bit different.

They give the parameters needed to create a chart or curve of length vs standard weight. They also have some guidelines on what constitutes various grades of fish: stock, quality, preferred, memorable, and trophy class.

I've formatted the data for all the fish I see discussed here. It cannot make it look good with the lack of formatting available on UBB. So I've made a separate listing for each fish- you'll have to scroll down.

I'd be happy to make a different table if anyone wants different ranges or increments. Tis simple.

Here is a list of the fish species with standard weights noted below: Blk Crappie BCP, Bluegill BG, Gizzard Shad GSD, Golden Shiner GSH, Pumpkinseed PS, Redear Sunfish RES, White Crappie WCP, Yellow Perch YP, Chain Pickerel CP, Channel Catfish CC, Largemouth Bass LMB, Northern Pike NP, Rainbow Trout pond res, RBT, Smallmouth Bass SMB, Striped Bass SB, Hybrid Striped Bass HSB, and Walleye WE.
