Sprkplug,you are absolutely right about there not being much difference between this and old sabotage methods at this point you still need physical access to the car for the most part.
Onstar on the other hand if hacked/cracked,all bets are off.Luckily it's only based in the US at this point and most hacks/cracks i know of come from eastern europe
The thing is the criminals doing this have little interest in hijacking people.There main goal is stealing cars plain and simple.
I suspect in the not so distant future that if your car has one of those "smart keys" you are going to see a big rise in insurance premiums.
