Well done George and Mrs. G - nice looking fish. Glad you bent your rules a tad and got out casting.
So...what was/were the pattern/s that were most deadly?
The "pattern" was to devise a plan to cope with no wind. near full moon and spooky fish.
The occasion was for Mrs. G to test her new birthday fly rod.
Day break was calm and still but managed to catch a few nice CNBG - mostly males to about 8 inchs - since near full moon we speculated the big males had chased the smaller males off the beds and were guarding their "harem". CNBG caught on Stubbys.
I caught a couple of "cull" Florida LMB on a big Gurgler.
Went to small pond and the fish didn't want to play either so returned to main pond. I had turned off surface aerator so plugged it back up - you can't imagine the change in the calm water - big ripples clear to 2 acres of shore line - talk about circulation!
Turned the fish on big time - caught CNBG on every cast and couple of nice HSB and Mrs.G's nice Florida LMB on Stubbys.
All on fly tackle - strictly a fly fishing pond.
Thanks for asking,
George
