Don't feel bad. I fished a spinning rod and reel out of a lake after it was underwater for about 9 months. I looked for it for a long while, and didn't find it until the ice went off of the lake the next Spring. The guide wraps were turned white, but after giving the Penn 650SS a good take-apart cleaning, it still works as good as before it went for an extended bath.
