I'm afraid if you blind them, they may live, which would be the worst of all scenarios. I also wouldn't throw the dead carcasses back into the water...we all try so hard to minimize the nutrient loading in our ponds. Cage idea to keep them alive? There's actually a lot of people who would like to take live adult LMB off your hands. Maybe you could trade them for another more preferred species.
