The chase phase is on now, by the time gun season starts the "lock down" phase should be starting. If I had a whole week to spend in the woods out of the year, it would be this week. Once the does come into estrus, and start accepting bucks, then the hunting gets harder. A buck will stay with a doe for approx. 48 hrs once she "comes in". He will do everyting that she does, sticking close to her like glue and breeding with her multiple times. Once that happens, switch tactics and hunt does - the bucks will be with them and not running around looking for them. Once that 48 hr. period is done, they will start looking for another doe.

The same cycle will be repeated in November and in December, but this first "rut" is the biggest and craziest.
