I trap and relocate about a dozen or two every year. Same reason as you, I don't mind a few sunning on the bank but don't want three dozen. Obviously, mine aren't snappers, just plain old red ear sliders. I use a home-made trap same design as seen on the MemphisTwine site, PVC pipe square with a wire drop-bottom. I take them to a swampy area near my work and release.
