Just to offer a different perspective, get a mutt.

I grew up with Samoyeds, and they were great dogs.

But my first dog as an adult was a shepherd/lab type mix, and my current two dogs are great dane/lab/???/????/????.

Safe to say for me, I will only ever get mutts.
