I have seined, cast-netted and trapped. (I leave the shocking for Todd O.) When water warms and they are REAL active, turn off feeder for a few days and set 3-4 traps out. They need to be checked every few hours and moved at least every other day. Slow but can be enjoyable. I keep several 5 gallon buckets with lids handy to run them to other ponds. Igloo works also if you don't have alot of bumps in the road.
I'm just not into boots and mud anymore...but I am blessed with a son and s-in-l.
You have a beautiful place!
edit pellets and bread (flour tortillas squid etc...) in ladies hosiery worked. Be careful where you shop in a small town though.
Part of the fun is seeing things you didn't know you had.
