Nice BGxRES

Caught this fellow just after dusk started. 11 1/2 Inches, and a 1/4 ounce shy of 2 pounds. Caught on about an inch worth of nightcrawler.

Very nice hybrid sunfish that you have there Mr. Gallus. It is even better that you raised it yourself. Atta Boy!!! Be proud.

Good grief

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

When one holds their fingers back from the fish side body facing the camera very often the holder ends up picking the fish up off the ground after the fish flopped lose due to lack of grip and good support. Only a few can really master the Condello technique that takes a lot of practice. It would be interesting to know how many fish Bruce picked up off the ground during photography.

Great fish, yet another abysmal photo. Might as well be a postage stamp. Please practice....and try again.

I am displeased.

That doesn't work well for me - I've got these stubby little T-Rex arms. :P

A good question. My Fx BGxRES have demonstrated the wide variation of easily observable BG and RES traits (coloration, mouth size, body form) that one would expect. Given this, I strongly suspect that some of them have good enough pharyngeal teeth to eat snails.

I can confirm that I never see any snails in that (or, FWIW, my other) pond. But then both ponds should/could have a population of pure RES (that are not targeted and very seldom caught).
