Failure at Growing Giant Bluegills

About 20 Inches long, weighed 5 lbs 15 oz. Caught on 1" worth of nightcrawler on a 1/32 oz jighead (a la Bruce Condello) on my light weight spinning rig - with 4 pound test line. It was a fun fight!

Just imagine what you would have caught with 2" of nightcrawler!

(Don't know if the 4# test would have handled that one though.)

I love 1/32oz jigheads, though usually I rig with a 4 inch plastic worm. Catches big BG, all different sizes of LMB, and the occasional HSB.

If you're patient, lucky, and backreel rather than the drag, it is possible to catch very large LMB on 4 lb test. grin

No, (she) went back in. My LMB population has been rather low (hence that fat catch; there's a ton of small to 9" BG in the pond), and I want as much spawning as possible. I added 100 fingerlings last year (after a fishkill) and have 25 juveniles ordered for delivery sometime soon.
