Now just add more water. How big will it be when it fills?

RAH...you are right, but my situation may be a little different than most... the state and local officials (approved) permits/plans to dig this pond legally right in the wetlands...this allows me to have or not to have any barrier between the pond and the wetlands...per the approved project plans..... I could remove the dam and fill the pond in a matter of hours....... so the garden hose thing shouldn't be a problem.
The dam that is now separating them is going to be removed at the end of the project....we just temporarily left it in place so the pond wouldn't fill to quickly and wash out the sides of the pond or drain the wetland in a few hours....just taking it slow to protect the pond and the wetlands

rebelyelljr....The approval was not to permanently drain the wetland but to dig the pond right in the wetlands which is a legal activity when approved by your state and local DEQ,DNR and county soil erosion commission....but That is not an easy thing to do..It took me 3 years, A environmental consultant and a lawyer to change there minds.
As far as draining wetlands just for the sake of draining them I don't think they would approve that.... and that's not what were trying to do..just want a pond and didn't have any other place to put it....I'm sure they realize the dynamics when you dig a hole this size in a wetland the water is going to move from the wetland to the pond until the pond and the wetland equalizes... they must have know that when they approved the project.......on site they didn't seem to concerned at all.
