Neighborhood Pond

I love the look of ponds in autumn! This is one of five ponds in my commmunity; 300 yards from my back door. Not as nice as having a private pond, but certainly more affordable - considering the location is suburbia Houston. Only 1.5 acres, but it has 3,500' of winding shoreline. Decent fishing too. Following yesterday's shock-survey, we're planning to implement a forage stocking program in hopes of beefing up the avg bass-size. Eliminated several warmouth and one large crappie.

Pretty unusual to find a community pond with resources available to do that.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Not unusual at all for urban/suburban community ponds that are supported by annual amenity dues from 300+ homes. Thanks to cost-diffusion, the shared resource is infinitely more affordable than privately owned ponds - but certainly has drawbacks, including management challenges.

Some management challenges seem to be universal, whether dealing with community or private lakes.
