Does this little girl have a Kung-Fu grip or what!
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

I love East Texas ponds. Yours reminds me a lot of one at my family farm, about 3/4 acre. It has stumps, trees, etc just like yours. Lots of character..."Wild" ponds as I like to call them sometimes.
Glad to see your daughter likes fishing. I'm blessed to be married to a woman and have children that love to wet a line, any time. They don't need a fancy bassboat or high-dollar rod and reel to have a good time either. They're my pond princesses.

Clayton, we are going to make a trip to the pond tomorrow. I'm going to see if I can land a big GSF and maybe some CC. I'll take the camera and take some pictures. The pond is in Elkhart TX and we live near Conroe, so we don't get there as much as I would like.

What did she catch that CC on? It looks like a little crappie jig by the photo.
We've been using hotdog weiners to snag the big GSF and Blue catfish in my pond. My CC seem to go for almost anything that smells, but they are small since I just put in 6-8" ones in February/March.

It was either a worm or a GSF. we catch alot of CC on GSF. I'm going to pretend I didn't read that. I'm also going to pretend that I'm Emperor of Eurasia but that's an entirely different subject matter.

The last big Blue Catfish we caught had a 4" GSF down its gullet.

I had no idea what you were talking about Paul until I Googled "Apatura iris."
According to Wikipedia...The Purple Emperor (Apatura iris) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. Males also spend much of their time in the tree tops, defending their territory from rivals, though they will sometimes descend in order to drink from puddles or feed. Unlike most butterflies, the purple emperor does not feed from flowers but instead on the honeydew secreted by aphids and on dung, urine and animal carcasses. Jeez other that the "spending time in tree tops" that sounds exactly like me.
Clayton, you're killing me here.
