Anyone have any experiance with killie fish? Back in NJ, in the meadowlands we had killie fish, tons of them. You can bait a minow trap with a crushed crab and fill the trap in 10 min. Those fish will live for days just wraped in wet newspaper. There green with sort of striped sides. They grow maybe 3 inches long. Has anyone ever tryed these fish in a pond for forage. Just thought I would ask someone here.

Size: to 6"

Habitat: Generally inshore in harbors, inlets, and other quiet waters. Tolerates a wide range of salinities.

Notes: The largest and most attractive of the many species of killifish in the New Jersey area. The male is above, the female below.

The name killifish is derived from the Dutch word "kilde", meaning small creek, puddle.

I used to live in Jersey, and the killifish that we used to collect were saltwater fish. Don't think they'll work very well in most inland ponds.

Holding a redear sunfish is like running with scissors.

The meadowlands is brackish but I wasnt sure if the killie was a fresh or salt water fish. Your from NJ... so you know these fish then.
