I just realized, through more reading, that lime increases the Ph. (jesh I hope I have this right now) Here I rambled on about my ph being to low and I better not add any more lime.
Not a word from anyone. No correction, silence.... or did I hear laughing in the background? Heads shaking? eyes rolling?
So, either you just don't care if I stay a moron....
or
You didn't know how to correct me without being rude?
Please, do correct me. I have so much information rambling around in my head I am obviously mixing things up.
If you don't do it for me, do it for the innocent fish I could harm.

You didn't know how to correct me without being rude? Yeah, that must have been it. Definitely not that I didn't notice or just plain got it backwards myself.

Yeah, I am not good at this forum writing. I don't come across real well. Those are certainly possibilities as well. Anyway, I finally got it right and .... no fish died during my vacation from intelligence.

Here is a little more info to help. pH of 7 is "neutral." pH less than 7 is acid, more than 7 is base. Each point of change of pH is ten times more than the one next to it. pH of 6 is 10 times more acid than 7, 100 more acid than 8, 1,000 times more acid than 9, and so on. When you add limestone, it's the same as adding Rolaids. You are adding an antacid. Lime buffers the water. At the same time, lime added to acid water also adds other important dimensions...minerals for fish to build bones as well as key ingredients for plant and animal plankton growth. Plus, when there is plenty of lime to buffer the water, you don't get such wide swings of pH during daily photosynthesis and respiration of plants.
Teach a man to grow fish... He can teach to catch fish...

Thank you Mr. Lusk. You have brought it down a bit more to my level. I especially like the tums analogy.
