Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations It's great to have a pond

Today we had a fish fry and cooked the speckled trout we had from the coast and had out family and friends. I brought several poles and went to the pet store and got crickets and superworms(my new fave!!!)We took my girlfriend's daughter, my niece, and my first cousins two kids down to the pond. My niece is getting pretty seasoned but the other kids all caught their first fish and then about 10 more sunfish each. Not only that but two bass were caught; one on a superworm and one on a cricket. These pictures are of my girfriend's daughter and one of my mutant sunfish, then the two kids together are my cousins kids with fish. My girfriends daughter caught the other bass that was about 10 inches. My parents said that when they came back in from fishing they were extatic. I missed that gathering up the gear after the tidal wave of kids and re-baiting and empty water bottles but it was so much fun and it is so great to be able to give that to someone. It's one of the most satisfying things to experience in my opinion. I didn't catch 1 fish:)

btw, when a fish swallows the hook do you just cut the line or try to get it out? I cut the line at the mouth twice but didn't know if that was the best thing to do.

IF you are trying to save the fish, cut the line. With snelled hooks on a snap swivel, I just take it off the snap swivel unless the protruding snelled line is long enough to retie another hook onto.
