I designed some no trespassing signs for our pond property that raise it to a higher plain of existence, that being a "Fish and Game Refuge".

Dwight, I think the concept is sound. I wonder if you could make it look more "official" or "government issue."
You know...a flag, some acronyms like "U.S...."

Dwight,
I don't know...a sign like that would be an invitation to poachers in my area of the world.
T,P,&W has a program for catching deer poachers in which they set up a fake deer near the road and observe what happens...the fake deer gets shot up so bad they become unusable quickly.
Something which frightens poachers works better around here...like "Warning: Bear Traps in Use on this Property"

Sunil - I will take that officially under advisement! If these don’t do the job, I will up the urgency with your suggestion. Meadowlark - I thought of using a toxic waste dump approach and going the more threatening route. In the interest of taking the higher ground, I will try this first. I do have a surveillance camera system for my business that I could extend to cover the whole property if I really want to scare the ---- out of them. Around here everyone knows everyone else. We all watch out for each other, so it really hasn’t been a problem. I figure the signs are a way of saying “don’t ask” without having to actually say it.

I believe that Meadow is correct as follows...
You have to segregate your poachers into two basic categories. One one hand, you have your semi-jerk poacher, and on the other hand, you have your total-jerk. A sign stating Wildlife Preserve may make a the semi-jerk poacher think twice, but the total jerk...well, you know.

Sunil - There is no defense for the total jerk in any situation. OK, maybe a watercooled big machine gun idling at the end of the driveway!

People that run bluebird nest box trails hande this by a notice that it is a federal offence to interfer with the nesting of a migratory bird. In other words, if you mess with my birds in their nest box, you mess with the feds. It works more often that many people would believe.

Sunil, I'm thinking the semi-jerk poacher is an endangered species in East Texas...however recruitment of jerk poachers is at an all time high.

Dwight glad to see you spread your wealth, you had both BPS and Cabelas gear all in the same picture. I'm with Meadowlark Game Preserve means there be something over there worth breaking in to see what it is all about.

Greg Grimes - I figured you might be one of those that would notice more than just the sign. You are one of the observant ones. I don't have any wealth as I spend any before it can develop. I have a pond, as you know. My neighbor the farmer says, "I am going to keep working until everything is gone”. Is that how you develop wealth?

I noticed all the spinner baits neatly hung and waiting for use.
What is "wealth" ? You have wealth - Bremer Pond.

I'm still kickin. And I now have even more of it left, as I have moved my family back to our home acreage and pond. The renters killed my fish and mostly neglected everything else, but we are re-building and re-stocking.

Hey Wood, good to hear that you moved back to the banana belt.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Thanks Dave, we're four hundred kilometers more southern now. I'll have to wait until at least September before we can ice fish on the pond.
