We are purchasing a home with a 1 acre pond on the property. This pond used to be about 10ft deep. It is currently 3 ft deep. It is [/LIST] drain off and rain feed, and we have had lots of rain. What could be the problem, and how much will it cost to repair. Also can any local help be provided in the Azle Texas area.

Terry, You didn't mention whether it fills and is only 3 ft. deep or whether it will only hold 3 ft. with 7 ft. below overflow level.
In one case, it is probably silted up and in the other case, it appears to have a leak 3 ft. from the bottom.

Terry, Echoing Dave, it's hard to tell from your description what the current condition of you pond is. Please describe the scenario a little better because it either sounds like 1)your pond is full of sediment or 2)you don't have a sedimentation problem but have only 3 feet of water in your pond. If you are looking for local help and a consultation, visit www.pondmedics.com. Have you bought the property yet? Or just considering? Trent Lewis

Terry -Sorry I can't help you- BUT I have a problem of my own , my dam has a bottom Trickel Tube pipe overflow system that is stopped up causing the pond to flood the shore and has created it's own spillway, which has ran before in high water conditions, but with the pipe not letting water out the shore flooding is worse, the pipe on the back side of the dam has a drain valve but looks pretty rusty and i havent worked up the nerve to attempt to open it, the handle on the drain outlet is appx. 12 to 14" dia.Have not owned the pond long and don't know how old, or the last time it was opened . If I try and something goes wrong GOOD BYE POND apprx.4 acres---Any suggestions anybody---Thanks Harvey

Harvey, What methods have you employed to try to unstop the overflow system? Do you know what is stopping it up? Do you have any pictures you can send? I'd like to get a visual of what you are talking about. Send them to: trent@pondmedics.com I hope that it is an easy solution. If it is going to be more difficult than we think, we might be able to come up with a sound civil design solution for you. We are only an hour and a half from you. Visit www.pondmedics.com.
