I was just curious as to what some of your screen names mean. A lot of us have just used our names, and some of us have used names that are alias. For me I just used my first name.

I could figure out some, like Saltwater Cowboy for SaltH20Cowboy, etc.

As another example, why do I feel that "Theo Gallus" is not Theo's real name?

What does "wickedinhere" mean?

Sunil make a good point. I often try to image what the person is behind the name. Some of the codenames are interesting to say the least. As for me "pondrookie" is kind of obvious. But I have learned alot from this site the past 18 months. The Pond Boss web site and magazine has helped me through many of the issues us pond/lake guys face. Too bad Pond Boss can't help with the lack of rain in East Texas.

a) Sunil; is it pronounced "sun-il" or "soon-il"? b) does it have a deep, cultural meaning, or only a moniker?

IIRC, there was an ancient Roman God named Theogalus. I believe he was crafter of long lunches and quitting early to go fishing. He is also credited with designing the first outdoor tanning spa for mummies.

It's like "Sue" - "nil"

Brettski, you slay me sometimes...

mine might appear rather obvious but if you dig a bit deeper you'll find that El Dorado was a (perhaps) mythical city or country of fabulous riches, wealth, abundance, and opportunity believed (by 16th century explorers) to exist in So. America.

i put the CA on it just to bring me back to reality.

Sueneel, i think you may have opened up a can of worms here.....fun topic

Rockytopper is the name I gave the camper I invented a few years back.

http://rockytoppers.com/truckcampers.htm

I originally was going to name it "ROCKYTOP" but a friend brought in a soda pop with that trade mark so I changed it.

If you have ever heard for observed trials motorcycle riding then you would get mine. I dont ride to much but the son and I still ride around a bit Not me but this is some of the stuff that is ridin in trials competition, I dont ride anything as radical anymore, takes to long to heal up if you crash. There was one Pond bosser that reconized my name. I have been accused of being a lawyer before because of my name, not on this forum though. \:\)

Mine’s pretty boring. My wife loves the blue heron we usually have stalking the pond bank below the house in the morning (which is one reason the heron hasn’t been introduced to my shotgun), and this was the closest I could come when I tried to register under the name when first going on the net. I have had people interpret it as “her on blue.” I am ugly enough as a guy, and thinking of what I would look like as a her would make even Mudcat Joe nauseated.

A few years ago, I had a really good German Shepherd dog named Tonto. The Lone Ranger's edge in some scraps was his Indian sidekick Tonto. So... Rangersedge in honor of Tonto or the Lone Ranger or something...

by that admonition i was reminded of who likely lurks behind "976" numbers....not that i know anything about such things.

I'm not a regular poster here essentially because I don't have a pond yet, but that will change soon. Not as big as my dream pond, but I could practically sit beside a mud puddle and be happy. Anyway, I guess my member name is obvious, but these days a little misleading. I was kayaking when kayaking wasn't cool. I bought a sea kayak way back in the mid 80's - alot of people then didn't even know what it was! Anyhoo, starting a business ate up alot of my paddeling time, but I used to go all the time. These days I let a friend keep it at Lake Gaston. It's been there a couple of years, and I'm starting to get the urge to paddle again......

This thread! I've been impugned, mocked, and libelled - and loved every bit of it! \:D

You just have a suspicious mind!

p.s. Heronblu, I've always thought of your handle as "Heron Blue Lou," sort of a fish-eating saxophonist.

The older I got, the further I removed myself from my youth. Chasing the almighty dollar lured me away from what was really important. I was losing track of where I came from. All it took was a good woman and two all too normal boys to remind me that I was running away from what we needed most - nothing more or less than a sandbox to play in.

Bob......oh, what is my last name. Actually, it derived from one evening when my boy and his buddies were drinking beer, and playin poker. I was upstairs entertaining. Seems they could hear my friend and I over their shouts of who was cheating.

Heck; all this time I thought it had something to do with being gallows bait.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
