Hi, I am building a 1/3 to 1/2 acre pond in south texas and have heard that this is to small of a pond to stock with largemouth bass. Just wondering if anyone could give me some reback on this suject.

thanks

anthony - i once had a small half acre pond - you can grow some bass in one this size - had some 4-5 lb bass - needs some depth in it to keep it from going dry during drought situations.

You just won't be able to grow very many large ones. Normally about 15 lbs to maybe 40 lbs of bass in 1/3 to 1/2ac; depends on fertility and management techniques.

Welcome newest member. The information you are seeking should be found within this website. I have found the members here to be knowledgeable and very helpful. With the size of pond that you are referring to you should be able to grow the desired size fish with stocking methods of moderation and management methods laid out in this forum. Good luck and enjoy your new pond. Doc
