Hi, I just came across your forum and think this is a great place for pond owners. We have just set up a forum on our web-site, because we thought there wasn't one where pond owners could go and get there questions answered. We are a fish hatchery in Georgia that has produced fish for recreation and aquaculture since 1981. We are the only producers of grass carp in Georgia, and would love to get your imput on our site.

Thanks,
Wendy

Wendy, Welcome aboard !! Your site looks very professional. Do you vary your stocking rates to a pond owners goals of which has been a "huge" subject here at "The Boss" (just curious) Also curious as to how you are the only producer of GC in Ga. as this seems like a very popular fish to stock. Will be looking forward to your participation.Ted

Thank you, Ted.

Yes we do vary to some extent our stocking recommendations according to the amount of feeding and the goals of the customer. There are only about 10 to 12 producers of Triploid Grass Carp in the United States. However, there are many growers that buy fingerling grass carp from us or another source and grow them out to a saleable size.

Wendy glad you joined up. The new site looks great. To those who care if you bought grass carp from me I more than likely got them here. Great bunch of folks. Wendy if there is still room look under Meeting in Georgia and contact Frank. IT woudl be great for you , Brina or Paul to come give you thoughts and ideas. Call me if you have questions about it.

Wendy

If you want to attend the Ga meeting, go to www.frankpinkston.com/pondboss.html for info. Send me an email if you can attend. We need to finalize the headcount in the next few days.

I had carp from O&W from the 80's. See pics of what they looked like when I rotenoned the pond to start over a few years ago.

Last time I was at your shop for carp I gave Paul some photos.

Thanks for the nice words Greg. I won't be able to make the meeting, however, Paul is wanting to go, so he will see you there.

Frank those are some very large and old carp. It's amazing how large they can get. Oh, I sent you an e-mail.

Wendy

Ewest,
Thanks for the welcome. I have been working at the fish farm for over 15 years, so oddities are normalities to me. ;\)

Welcome my dear! It is nice to have a female friend on board. ;\) The boys ARE nuts, so it will be up to you and me to keep them in line (I have been having a hard time doing that by myself). \:D
All jokes aside you have joined a GREAT forum here. Again I welcome you, and I hope to see you continue to post.

That ain't likely to happen (keeping us in line), Deb, and you know it even if you won't admit it to yourself. :p

BUT don't let that scare you off, Wendy. Pondmeister males are mostly harmless, dangerous only to themselves and to the fish in their care. Welcome.

Wendy, don't believe anything Deb says. She's spooky.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Welcome Wendy and Paul!

See what interesting discussions take place here. Theo has a new species of fish: cootie cleaner fish!

Debra- cooties are how 13 year olds flirt. Not to imply there is any lack of maturity in this forum ! \:D

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I can see you have to stay on your toes (or should I say fins) around here. Debra, you seem to have your hands full, but looks like you can handle them.

Both my Grandma and my wife's Granny were frying pan (black cast iron skillet) women. Her Granny used one to keep a bear out of the cabin up in Ontario. My Grandma used one once to "explain" to my Grandpa why supper was going to be a little late.
