Awright, who did it? I dang sure didn't. Somebody dropped a 5 star on on my new Logon ID that is embarrasing.

I recently had to come up with a new Login ID, I suppose, to go along with the new directory and other changes. It apparently goes along with E mail address and my previous or other Login goes with my office computer. Being a PB junkie means that I screw off at work plus check and post a lot at night. You know the story and how it is.

I gotta change this. As long as Bill Cody is around, I'm a one star at best. Actually, I'm taking this opportunity to talk about Bill. It's the best opening I've gotten.

At one time, I was a 17 star. I was a legend in my own mind. This was on the previous web site that got clobbered by a virus. Very few of us go back to those days. Anyway, I figured I knew exactly what I was doing. I was firmly sitting on a throne of my own imagination. Then that dang Cody showed up and started posting. It didn't take many posts before I found that I didn't even qualify for fingerling status. His posts kicked all 4 legs off my imaginary throne. BTW, none of his posts were directed at me or refuted my thoughts. And, he was just getting warmed up. Bill knows the content of books that I don't understand the titles of. Lots of the rest of you do, too.

Anyway, thanks for the vote of confidence but 5 stars need to be reserved for Bill and those that have learned through something other than repeated trial and error. I'm a slow learner and have the stats, badges, patches and caps to prove it.

Now, if anyone wants to know about getting pickups stuck in the same mud hole multiple times, designing non-working catfish baits, losing expensive lures in brushpiles, hook shy bass and swamping boats during storms, contact me. On those, I'm still sitting on a real throne. I'm currently working on a rain dance that isn't working out too well.

Thanks to Bill and to the guys that are real stars. You have made, and continue to make a difference.

DD1 I agree with Ted & gave you 5 also.

Ted, I noticed I hadn't rated you either & sent you 5.
You both deserve it!

All that matters to Dave is if the grandkids rate him a 5 star which I am sure they do!

DD(1), Cody rates 5 stars for helping us learn from his expertise.

IMHO you rate 5 stars for helping us learn from your mistakes (as well as from what you do right).

Dave, you should NEVER have posted that request for a star reduction. I believe you'll soon have more five star votes than anyone on this forum. Et tu, Brute you say? Oh, yeah. Here goes mine. Bam! Five stars for you!

You need to ask, Cecil? How long have you been reading the garbage I post? I can't recall ever posting anything of a SERIOUS nature. Of course, that doesn't mean a lot since I can't remember yesterday. Let me say now that if I ever posted anything SERIOUS, I sincerely apologize to all forum members.

Now Dudley neither do I ever post anything serious, but you have to admit one doesn't usually see "SOB" on here even when things got heated with the Georgia Giants.

Sorry if offended you. Not my intention. \:\(

It's OK. Dudley has been using my ear for a urinal for some time. I don't remember having any problem with reciprocating.

Well Dave, I'll confess as well...I may have been the first. I gave you 5 stars before I asked you about cloning yourself. To me the stars are about way more than knowledge...They are about a willingness to help, attitude, how one handles themself on the forum, and maybe even their perspective on life.

Thanks, guys. I guess I'm stuck with an honorary mess of stars that should not be confused with real knowledge. The only mess of stars that I really deserve are the ones that I see floating around my head when I slip in some of my own BS and crack my noggin. Heck, Theo knows more about the width of a catfishs' mouth than I do about any kind of fish. Of course, I'm still trying to figure out what kind of sick mind it takes to get to that kind of minutae.

BTW, Dudley is right about not EVER taking him seriously. Who is going to believe anything that a transvestite who is currently doing time in Angola for drug dealing says? Yep, that's what he claims but, like I have often said, you can't believe anything he says. It takes a long line and heavy weight to plumb the depths of my buddy Dudley. I keep adding string but the depths keep increasing. I tried to get him to come to the meeting we had at D/FW but we couldn't overcome the parole, character, and immigration issues. I just wasn't willing to assure the authorities of his good behavior. I certainly wasn't born yesterday and just didn't want that much responsibility. Actually, my wife nixed the whole deal. Something about not getting me out of jail and I ought to have better sense. Aw, you know how wives are.

The real reason I started this thread was to thank Bill Cody. It gave me a perfect opening. There are lots more of you but I'm not going beyond Bill because I might miss someone. We all know who you are. I want to particularly thank Bill for taking up more bandwidth on his posts. When he first joined the forum, his offerings consisted of about 3 sentences sprinkled with 17 letter words that I couldn't understand and couldn't decipher. He now explains the meanings behind those words so rednecks like me don't have to read them over 3 times to understand them. Thanks again, Bill. You're a Giant.

Dave, I used to know a girl named "Starz" with the same spelling you used in the subject line.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to rate you a negative infiniti stars just for bringing up the unpleasant memory.

On a second unfortunate note, a negative infiniti star rating equates to a five star rating for some reason that can only be explained by global warming and rogue dentistry.

Absolutely, positively no offense taken, Cecil. Like the exercise yard, this place is supposed to be fun. You simply didn't realize that Dave and I go waaaaay back. He used to be my principal squeeze before I got sent up when I took the heat for him and got 30 years for it. Is that commitment or what! I'm up for parole in six so we'll see how long after that he's stays happy in Texas.

BTW, the Dudley you see on here is a facade. Believe it or not, he really is a responsible and highly respected member of the community. He just enjoys life immensely and has a world class sense of humor. I won't say anymore and reveal his real world.

That said, don't loan him any money. Also, he's a bit touchy about being called Duddles after he did his last stretch.

Hey James, are any of the fires getting close to your place? I went to my place Sunday and hauled a bunch of stuff back to the metroplex. Guns and ammo, tools, fishing gear, metal detector, clothes, booze, 4 wheelers, etc. Wife is chapped! (Where are we going to put all of this stuff?)I took my John Deere and put it in the middle of what was going to be a wheat patch and is now plowed dirt.

It was prompted by talking to a rancher who told me that an awful lot of country people are boxing up their most irreplaceable momentos and keeping them by the front door.

Although my stuff is insured (somewhat) against fire and theft, I couldn't begin to replace it all with insurance proceeds. And, at 70 miles away, I couldn't get there in time to get it out. Some of you guys in arid areas might think this over.

That sounds like very prudent precautions, DD(1). The tractor should be safe from fire, save a wind-blown "million dollar spark" which hopefully won't have the JD's number on it.

Dave I hadn't even thought about the tractor. I usually try to keep it in the woods and hidden. I don't know which is worse to get it burned or stolen?
