I have a recipe that calls for Bratwurst with the casing removed. I cut each casing in 3-4 pieces. It is surprising how tough it is to get the piece of casing threaded on a fishing hook, but once on it stays on. First night I caught 4 BG >8" & 4 turtles. The last turtle took the hook & all, so I lost the bait. Second night, 5BG all 6" or greater then a turtle took the hook & bait & end the fishing.
Your bobber may be bouncing up & down but you don't have to worry if your bait has been taken, it is still there & stays there! Something about the casing, color, scent or texture BG & turtles are attracted to it. I have left it on the hook; it dries out & gets hard but the next night it softens when thrown in. It is almost indestructible. The BG think it is just fine. How tough it is makes me wonder what it is made of & is it really good for us to eat, digest, or does it just past through? In a small covered container it seems to keep forever in the refrigerator.

If you put good bratwurst on a hook, their is a decent chance you might catch a FishinRod! However, you will have to use line rated over 200# to land that particular "bait stealer".
