I would love to keep some of the trees because it is a beautiful look. My late father in law was a huge tree lover in fact he was Tree Farmer of the year in Ohio, some time ago. With that said, they are way too close, actually hanging over the water and I’m afraid they have to go.
The area around pond 2 is surrounded by plenty of filtering grasses, not sure of the names. That is until it hits the tree line and it is bare ground underneath the trees.
I feel pond 1 will be exceptional since I am currently putting the most effort into it. It will also be a model or template of what I have to do to make the others good or better.
It is very exciting times.
At some point I am going to try to add some pictures, I am not that great at this but I will try.

Yep, I figured that was probably the case with your trees.

Certainly the best way to combat the build up of muck in a pond is to prevent the organic material from getting there in the first place!
