Got these pillow size fire anthills on the berm of my pond, we just had heavy rain, which probably washed a lot of them into the pond and now I have a large healthy, dead bluegill floating.
Arkansas Ozark Mountans.
Will they gorge themselves on these ants being washed in, will it kill a large bluegill?

Possible but I had some fire ants near all of my ponds. Never seen a problem. I expect they are narrow minded about going for a swim.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Were these anthills in a good position to wash directly into the pond if a hard rain occurred? I’m thinking this may have happened, but there’s only one dead fish.

I’ve heard that eating fire ants will kill fish. However, I’m butt deep in fire ants and virtually never see a dead fish. Of course, it’s possible but eradicating all the fire ant mounds makes good sense though I doubt that very many ever make it into the water.
