This is a companion piece to catscratch's recent thread about Recommendations for Pond Electronics (fish finder).
I have opened this new thread to get feedback on how to use our electronic devices to get better outcomes. Your responses, can be how you initially started using the technology, or how you found new uses that you were not capable of before recent advances in technology or moving to more expensive equipment.
1.) How have you used your electronic devices to improve your fishing performance?
(This can include the basic advantages of the original "depth sounders", to the more advanced units that send back signals on fish (fish finders), to side scan images that can show fish sizes and orientation to structure. Also include camera systems if you have had some good (or bad) experiences. Even more novel approaches (like one member posting drone images used to monitor his fish in shallow water) would be appreciated.
2.) How have you used your electronic devices to improve your pond management?
Thanks for any input from members. Personally, I am always looking to improve on the things that I don't know, that I don't know!

I broke down and got some advanced electronics to be able to just find my massive amounts of brush I have in my pond, not only tons of brushpiles and standing timber that flooded out before I was able to organize and remove more of it, but now after 3 to 5 yrs, I have a lot of dead tree tops that have been blown into the water, dry enough to float just about anywhere the wind might take them, and then slowly sank as they got waterlogged. It did help me tremendously this spring finding concentrations of fish and allows you to be able to not get hung up in the brush pile, and therefore not spooking all the fish. I cant even go fishing in my pond without brush guards on my hooks.
I'm finding brush piles I didn't even know I had.
I am wanting to sink a couple old boats in my pond for people to find on their livescopes and then act surprised that there may be a shipwreck in the pond. but alas, here I go giving my secrets away.
All the really good ideas I've ever had came to me while I was milking a cow.

gehajake,
Don't you also fish for big catfish in rivers?
If my old memory is correct - Do your electronics help with that, or do you essentially just fish every good "hole" in the river in the stretch you are familiar with?
