Hey everyone. it's been a long time since I have visited the forum. the pond is still well here in alabama. Does anyone have a connection that would ship me a bag of largemouth pellets from time to time? I can't buy them local anymore. Thanks

Sad to hear that information. The highly promoted Aquamax is evidently doing a very poor job of making Purina fish foods available to some areas of the US. Sad state of affairs.

about a year ago my supplier said that purina required them to get so many tons at a time before they would ship it. they can justify buying large amounts of 500 and 600 because they sell alot of it, but not the lmb pellet

Call Aquamax and start asking questions
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

This is as I remember it. So Bob, correct me if I'm getting this wrong. I talked to Bob yesterday, and Aquamax largemouth fish food was dropped by a relatively new person that's tasked with cancelling low selling products, which included Aquamax fish food. Bob has been aware of this, and is trying to get largemouth back. I can add something here.. Let's keep our eye's open. The fat lady has not taken the stage...yet. So, if Kenny can't sneak an Ozempic shot to the "fat lady", or Bob can't get the Aquamax largemouth skew back, those of us that feed 1" pellets to our LMB and HSB are hosed. I did find one website that offered Aquamax Largemouth pellets, but with shipping, a bag is right at $100. The amount they have is probably limited.

I just purchased 15 bags of Aquamax MVP from our local Co-Op. They are a Purina feed distributor, I simply added it to their next incoming order. $ 60.00 for a 50 pound bag. TSC will also order it in, they are 10% higher.

My local TSC wants 27$/bag for anything I order in fish product-in shipping. I have a text chain going on contacts at Purina. We were headed in the direction of getting product where tons of other Purina feeds are sold.. it's been silent. I'm slowly loosing faith in obtaining a win here.

Same thing I did, My local Co-Op has to order 4 tons at a time from Purina, I had them add 1000 lb of MPV to their order, They were even nice enough to store it inside for me and I take what I want, when I need it. First time I talked to them, they ask if there was a fish farm in the area that they didn't know about LOL. The only issue with this is that you don't know if it will be 2 weeks or 2 months until it shows up

Purina is going to 'screw' around and lose a lot of customers, however they probably do not care. IMO their emphasis is on cat and dog foods where they make more money. As many that watch TV see, a lot of upstart companies are now making dog foods as better healthier products. Shame on Purina management who appear to me to be overpaid and do not care about the little guy or the average buyer. I quit using Purina years ago due to inconsistency of product quality. Any Purina feed dealer should be able to get fish food added to their incoming Purina product shipment. IMO bad management decisions.

Based on comments, I think I understand why Purina is not available to everyone, but I don't understand why Optimal isn't still available. My impression is that it wasn't voluntary possibly in response to litigation or perhaps terms of a settlement. Is there any reason why we cannot be informed? For example, is Optimal bound by non-disclosure as required by terms of a settlement?

Years ago we raised show rabbits and hit all the shows in Texas . We used their feed thinking it was good…. Not. We lost some high dollar bunnies because of their feed and guess what they couldn’t care less. We moved on from them and i still don’t care for them.

Cargill Triton 4512 is a great option as well...I have purchased 20 bags at a time, it ships via LTL carrier. Buying direct from Cargill, with FRTIB costs included, it is still very competitive on price and fish love it.

Cargill focuses on aquaculture, and because of that, Triton fish food is not as available as a food like Purina Aquamax. Luckily, I can pick up my Triton directly from Overton's Fisheries.

Cargill Triton 48-18 is listed as the same size floating pellet as Optimal Bass. Purina probably has something similar as well...Purina & Cargill ~ 50 pound bag, Optimal ~ 40 pound bag, 20% volume difference when comparing cost...Optimal is definitely the easiest to purchase, ships to your door in less than a week...All 3 brands are excellent choices depending on specific needs.

Just got off the phone with the Springhill KS COOP for you KS/MO fellas looking for an option. It sounds like they order purina food in every 3-4 weeks and were happy to add my MVP order to theirs. Lost the ability to have it delivered direct to my door but the price point was a little lower than what I was paying on Optimal BG and JR. Grabbing (20) bags and I'll notify them when I get down to (10) to ask for more to be brought in. Delays in the chain are what worry me. Would hate to get into a situation where we run out with no option to be able to add to an empty feeder. Happy to network a little if somebody is short on food and wants to trade bags should it come up.
