Do you want just the apparatus lifted, or a lift with a person on it? That could be sketchy. A controlled flip out ramp would probably better for that.
I think the handicap lifts they make for swimming pools are your most similar commercial option.
Go to any rehab facility that has a pool, and I bet they would let you watch how they safely operate the device.
You also need to observe the mechanics of how they transfer people. My father was an amputee and my eldest daughter is a nurse in a memory care facility. There is a right (safest) way and wrong way to transfer people for every type of transfer.
