Curious about whether it's necessary to spend way more to get a "weighted" rubber hose.....when I've compared them side to side, handled both- weighted vs. regular rubber hose- they seem to weigh pretty much the same.

My first aeration system (windmill) had non-weighted airline. I electrical-taped used bolts to it to keep it submerged. Where the weights came off, it floated up.
I got weighted airline to go with subsequent aeration projects.

Yes, it is worth it for ease of use and simplicity. Weighted airline is standard on most systems.
