We have a 30' concrete spillway, 25 years old, that regulates a 54 acre lake. With current drought conditions we are able to identify a small leak at the bottom of the spillway. Good news is that the Dezurik 24" butterfly valve is not leaking. We have a very small diameter concrete area that is leaking. We would like to repair with an epoxy product such as System 3 Submarine underwater epoxy or possibly a Sika equivalent. Working depth of repair will be 26' underwater...I have pictures but am unable to post due to my low tech aptitude...Any ideas on best product to use?

hendog,

Sorry to hear about your leak.

I do not recall any posts on Pond Boss about doing concrete repairs at such a deep water depth.

Hopefully an expert will drop in your thread. I am just replying to give you a bump.

Good luck on your spillway repair.

Thanks, it will be a challenge at that depth. We feel fortunate though because we thought our problem was the Dezurik 24" draw down valve leaking which was going to be a tricky repair...54 acre lake, losing about 10 gallons a minute, approximately 1/2 million gallons a month, through the spillway leak. Lake holds 190 million gallons at normal pool. 98% of the time we have plenty of inflow but Mother Nature has missed us this summer. We average 60" of rain per year so it is our turn to deal with a few drought setbacks.

We have a diver who is mechanical and a few others that enjoy a challenge, will figure it out.

We would love to help you post the pictures as that would give us a much better idea of what is possible. You may have to email them to a moderator or user through personal email and then have that moderator post them for you here. I'm sure a mod or user can send you a private message and get the photos posted?

That’s a lot of water pressure to repair from the exit flow. I believe I would get a diver to take some under water pics to determine the real problem.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

hendog,

Here is the link to the tutorial about posting photos.

Posting Photos to Pond Boss

You will need an Imgur account to do it that way. (That is a free account, and they don't spam me.)

It might be worth it to set up that account so you can post pics in OTHER discussions on Pond Boss.

We do have several members with lakes in the 50-65 acre range. They do get advice from people with ponds in the 0.5-2 acre range. However, I am sure the "lake people" would like any of your experience that you could share - and they will do likewise.
