Three year old pond exploded this spring, pretty positive ID as Sago Pondweed. By June 1st the buds were out and this was thick thick in most to all of my 3 ft and shallower water. Now here the heat is on and the stuff has really fallen back. Is the summer heat dieback of the sago normal? Now I did introduce about 15 grass carp and 15# of tilapia around mid-May. Pond is 8.5 acres. Either way I'm liking the dieback of the sago. I know the stocking of tilapia was really low but it was kind of a what the heck I'll add some idea. I've seen some big bruiser tilapia at the feeders each night.

Did you also have a Plankton bloom ? cut off sunlight ? My baby pond weed and my Fanwort , both died way back ,5 weeks after adding 6 new GC . But, about a month after the GC my Secchi went from over 72" to 24" , beautiful medium green , GC may have helped , but thinking the bloom was the big difference. My Secchi Disk yesterday was back to 30" on the money.

Tilapia shouldn't affect it, the TGC love to eat it.

I haven't done any chemical treatments; the FA has also taken a big nose dive. The American pond weed is still dominating the shorelines, but I like it. Thanks for the replies.
