Over the last couple years I've been transferring BG I trap in my small pond to my larger pond. Some of the bass started hanging out and eating them as I threw them off my dock.

I started feeding these guys smaller crappie I caught (clipped fins) and found that I could chop up larger crappie and they would eat them also.

Now I try to take out one of two crappie every day and feed my bass - I have at least 3 different bass hanging out and fighting for the pieces - largest one looks to be about 5lbs with smallest about 1.5lb.

There was a previous thread about that topic and several guys would fin or tail clip fish and feed them back to their bass.

Free food and trains your bass to eat that forage.

I don't recall anyone saying they did dead fish meat or entrails. I would hate to add nutrients back into the pond that were not consumed by my preferred predator.

However, if you have turtles, crayfish, or catfish in good numbers, then they might clean up everything for you and you are not feeding your algae!

If you throw dead fish on the bank in my area, you usually attract turkey vultures. I don't know what critters you would attract at night since I haven't culled like that since game cameras were invented. So if you have lots of dead fish, then back into the pond my be the best option?

Bruce Condello (who no longer hangs here) advanced to feeding raw fish chunks to his LMB and Crappie. He may have also had SMB eating sushi.

Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:"
"She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

The bass go for the fish chunks like sharks - it is interesting to watch how they fight to grab them.

There was another guy who fileted his cull bass and shoved strips of them down the throats of bass he was returning to the pond.

IIRC the collective response was "Well, then."
