People,
have a very small pond, 1/8th acre, kidney shaped. Only has gambuzia minnows, some crayfish, frogs, etc. It is 100% covered recently by bladderwort. I heard Diquat is an option, perhaps applying at only 1/4 of the surface at a time to prevent oxygen depletion for whatever life is in the pond. I think diquat id 2,4-d(?). If Im wrong, please advise.
BUT I heard 2,4-D is banned for sale in FL except for use in citrus. Is that true? If so, what other chemical compound can one use for bladderwort?
Thanks, people.

Thanks, people. "Diquat" is Diquat Dibromide. One trade name is Tribune, and Tribune is an aquatic rated herbicide. The active ingredient is 2,4-dichloro-phenoxyacetic acid. There are two types of 2,4-D used as aquatic herbicides: dimethyl amine salt and butoxyethyl ester. Look here for Bladderwort treatment options. https://aquaplant.tamu.edu/management-options/bladderwort/Note: 2,4-D is NOT recommended to be used to treat Bladderwort.

Thanks, ess. I did find that site previously, and it states that 2,4-D is a "good" option for my weed. Am I not understanding something? You say it is not effective, but that site says it is. What would you use for this weed if not 2,4-D?
Thanks.

Thanks. Ummm, I don't know where you saw that on the TAMU website. Here is what was in the link that I had posted above: The active ingredients that have been successful in treating Bladderwort include:
Diquat (Rated: Good) Fluridone (Rated: Good) Flumioxazin (Rated: Good) Penoxsulam (Rated: Good)
These ratings are based upon the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers aquatic herbicide trials. It doesn't even mention 2,4-D for Bladderwort.

Sorry, I was mistaken. I thought diquat was 2,4 d. My confusion and mistake. diquat seems to be a possible solution to my problem. Is there an alternative brand? I know brand names private label actual chemical ingredients so, any other brand other than diquat?

Diquat is the active ingredient. Read the link, they tell you what different brands there are to use.
