I just purchased some property that has a 3 acre pond on it. I've only fished it a couple of times, but had good success with catching bass. Most of the bass caught were relatively small, but all seemed pretty healthy for the most part. This is the first pond, that I've ever owned, and I would like to try and manage it properly. I have no clue what different types of fish are in it. I would like to get a good idea on how to evaluate and manage properly.
1) Should I have a biologist come take a look at it? 2) Should I fish it and just see what all I catch and then make a determination on how best to proceed? 3) Should I string some 2' webbing across it and see what all it catches?
I would like for it to have quality bass and nice blue gill for the grandkids to catch. Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
