Al, a big BG has to be eating and not missing many meals. Even so I have caught many BG over 10" that have not been fed feed. So the meals those BG weren't missing wasn't feed. What I haven't seen many of is BG > 11". I have caught a few of them though .... and one 12" in length. It's been my holy grail ever since.

There is a substantial difference between 10" and 12" ... nearly double the weight and double the maintenance required to support such a fish.

When it comes to fish food recommendations, have you considered incorporating some organic beet root powder into their diet? It's a great source of vitamins and minerals, and can even help with digestion and overall fish health. Just a thought to consider as you continue to care for your fish and work towards catching that 12" BG. Best of luck!

What would beetroot do for fish?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Why? ( Please show scientific data using it to feed fish that are found in typical ponds in North America to support your stance.)

Well, it's organic, so maybe we shouldn't turnip our noses at beetroot. whistle

Seriously, though, I wonder if someone has made progress in formulating taurine.

Isn't the whole beet considered a root? just thinking out loud here.

can we please redouble the efforts to get attached pictures to show up? It was working for a few minutes and now is broken again. Someone who knows how to get ahold of the office and see if they can ask for help yet again? I hope this new upgrade was free as it is quite 'buggy' yet.

Hey, I'm new here, but I'd like to share my even though this thread has not been updated for some time. As for food recommendations, make sure to do some research on the specific dietary needs of each fish, and adjust your feeding accordingly. I'd also suggest checking out AR Restaurant recipes. They have some great options for fish food that could work well for both your perch and SMB. Good luck, and keep us updated on your progress!

YoselinPierce, where in the USA are you from? Putting a city and a state helps us answer any questions you have. Most spammers just put USA and are usually banned and deleted quite quickly.

There is no perfect fish food. There are hundreds of fish species, and each has its own feed profile on carbs, protein and lipids and micro-nutrients. The protein source should match the amino acid complex of the species as closly as possible. There are a number of good basic fish foods for pond species but if you have carnivores, omnivores and herbivores in the pond you cannot match the feed to all 3.

Almost 100% that one is a spambot. The script kiddies are taking advantage of the lax security in UBB to practice their ChatGPT skills.

I wondered why the likely spambots frequently make seemingly innocuous posts. (Unlike the ones that clearly link to a product they want to push.)

Training a Chat type AI makes a lot of sense!

When they are capable of making bad Dad jokes about fish and ponds, then I will be replaced at Pond Boss.

Purina, Cargill's Triton, Optimal, and Skretting are all quality fish foods. It would be easier to figure out what's fish food to avoid.

Unless you're only feeding catfish, my first suggestion is to avoid a 50# bag of fish food that costs $20-30.

Because they come back at a later date and insert a link to something.
