The bass are feeding hard on schools of shad. They run in packs and when they hit it looks like bombs going off in the water. Water 54 degrees and stained, vis 3 feet.

Science and feeding theory. In stained (reduced visibility) water, predators like LMB, SMB, etc. (not catfish) feed near surface where they can see prey. They also feed pelagically (open water) for the same reason. This is a general concept and not in every case. Also, predators have to feed on what is available.

This time of year shad seem to be their main feeding pattern. Water is generally clearer unless we have had a big rain. Even cold blue bird days will produce a lot of surface feeding action.

54 F water is good for TShad. If it gets 10-12 degrees colder, they will start having problems.
