I'm here in NW Florida hanging out with my brother, and the pond behind his house is way to low, I'm talking 6 feet low. I can't find any problems with the dike. I registered and come on here to ask some professionals what signs too look for. #1 I don't spend hardly anytime here in my homelands, so I'm not sure if it might have just been drought. #2 There is a huge swamp on the other side of the pond, so it isn't like we can't just pump more water back into it. If that is the case what do you recommend we use?

He isn't a big fisherman, so I doubt this will be resolved by his hand alone, but when I come here, I'd like to fish it, but with the sad shape it is in now, if this continues, there will be nothing but a big hole in the ground.

Thanks for any tips or information you can provide. smile

PS If you need Pic's I'm willing to post them, but if this is a common issue, it may not have any impact on the result, so I will hold on to that for now.

Welcome to Pond Boss!

What is the water source for the pond?

I know that some areas of Florida have a very high ground water level, so if you dig a hole, it will naturally have water in it.

"She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

Hi Sunil,

Thanks for your reply. From what I can tell the water comes only from rain. This pond was certainly man made. They built up a dike, and populated it.

If they built up a dike, then I would assume the pond gets no water run-off from any surrounding acreage.

That would mean that, as you indicate, the pond only gets rain water that hits the actual surface of the pond.

Have they been getting much rain? I through some hurricanes passed through that general area a few weeks ago.

Hey, with a little southern ingenuity and some elbow grease, I think we got this fixed. Thank you all though and I will be around.
